Jiveswing.com Regular & Special Events
JiveSwing organises a range of monthly social dance nights and annual weekends. These are a great way to meet lots of new people from other classes. They’re great fun and on weekends, you’re likely to meet people from around the world.
In addition to our regular events, we never miss an opportunity for a social get-together with meals, picnics, days out to vintage events and social dancing at local events and venues.
Welwyn Garden City Vintage Festival
Join us in Welwyn Garden City Town Centre in June!
WGC Vintage Festival, a FREE event organised by JiveSwing.Com and Wonderful Welwyn .
We bring together some of the finest Internationally acclaimed bands, as well as singers, DJs, performers, dancers, dance instructors, street acts, vintage cars and stalls across 3 stages and arenas filling the town centre with entertainment for a whole weekend.
Savoy Jazz Jam
The ultimate Solo Jazz Weekend, held in Hertfordshire. QW annually bring over Lindy Hop Legends that danced in the Savoy Ballroom; Sugar Sullivan (USA) & Barbara Billups (USA) to join Lord of Jazz, Mr Chester Whitmore (USA), Joseph Sewell (UK) and Charlotte Middlemiss (UK).
Exploring the history of African American Jazz dance from African dance, plantation dances to today’s solo jazz with an array of incredible, inspirational and innovative concepts to expand and improve your vocabulary of jazz movement.
Harlem Nights
Going since 2009, Harlem Nights is Watford’s very own monthly social swing dance night, held every 1st Saturday of the month. Social dancing is a great way to meet people from other classes and improve your dancing quickly, by dancing with other dancers. Harlem Nights generally attracts dancers from all over Herts, London, Essex and further afield.
Most months you’ll dance the night away to a live band and changing playlists from our resident DJs, several who DJ Internationally!
Big Jiveswing Festival
Join us for the biggest and best FREE swing dance and music festival, right at The Big Jiveswing Festival in Cassiobury Park. Now in its fifth year, we’ve started as we mean to go on and the demand has been incredible!
Make sure you get yourself to this amazing event, that you could usually expect to pay for! Bring your friends, family and pets, and enjoy a lovely day.
Retro Saturdays
Our top DJ’s will keep the floor jumpin’ with a variety of tracks plus we often have live swing bands. Once you’ve been to Retro weekends, your weekends will never be the same again!
There is a licensed bar, and free light nibbles will be provided. There is free parking available at the venue.
Smart casual dress or vintage appreciated, but not essential.
Boogie Shack
Boogie Shack is mid-Herts monthly social dance night, normally held every 3rd Saturday, recreating the feeling and atmosphere of the 1930s Savoy Ballroom.
Playing an ecclectic mix of chilled out swing, there’s something for everyone!
Everyone is welcome. The night features guest DJ’s and/ or live bands, sometimes a complimentary swing class suitable for all levels, plus FREE soft refreshments.
Breast Fest
Join us in the fight against cancer, at Breast Fest – our annual dancing Fundraiser for breast cancer & donations to other cancer charities.
Support the good causes by wearing something pink, or something that is significant to you, get involved in the raffle and swing out for charity! With great live music, fun classes, performances and top DJ’s, it’s always a popular evening.
Goodnight Sweetheart
GNSH (Goodnight Sweetheart) was a landmark event for swing dancers, running every February since 2002, up until 2017, and marked the beginning of the swing dance calendar, attracting the next generation.
GNSH was dedicated to promoting African-American vernacular dances from the jazz era and had a top line up of international teachers.
The Vintage Ball
One of the UK’s classiest nights to wear your poshest vintage or formal dress or don your finest DJ, Tux or vintage attire… An exquisite evening of swing, blues and dancing till the small hours of the night. Each year the ball sells out to approx 250 -300 dancers,from around the UK and Europe.
The exclusive Spirella Ballroom, with a superb, fully sprung ballroom, bar & beautiful surround. One of the key comments about JiveSwing events, is the friendliness, fun, inclusiveness and everyone dances with everyone, to dance the night away to vintage DJ’s & Live Swing Music
